What ExactCalcs is
ExactCalcs is a set of free calculators (health, finance, clinical risk, and more) available directly at exactcalcs.com and as an embeddable widget for developers, licensed via an API key. Using either the site or the widget means you agree to these terms.
Not medical, financial, or legal advice
Every calculator here — including the clinical risk tools (breast cancer risk via the Gail model, colorectal risk, melanoma risk, CHADS2, HAS-BLED, and others) and every financial calculator (mortgage, retirement, take-home pay, and the rest) — produces an estimate from a published formula or model. None of it is a diagnosis, a medical opinion, financial advice, or a substitute for a qualified professional. Decisions about your health, medical care, or finances should be made with a doctor, genetic counselor, financial advisor, or other qualified professional, not from a number this site produced.
Accounts and API keys
- You're responsible for your account credentials and everything done under your API key.
- New accounts include a free trial period. We may extend, adjust, or end trial terms; using the service past your trial period may require a paid plan once billing is available.
- An API key only works from domains you've registered to it — this is how the widget is scoped to your own site(s), not an inconvenience to work around.
- Don't share your API key outside embedding it on your own registered domain(s), and don't use one that isn't yours.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use ExactCalcs for anything illegal, or to mislead people about what a result means.
- Attempt to bypass domain restrictions, usage limits, or rate limits.
- Interfere with the service's normal operation (scraping at volume, denial-of-service, etc.).
- Present a calculator's output as a diagnosis, professional advice, or a guarantee of any outcome.
Intellectual property
The site, its design, and its code belong to ExactCalcs. The underlying formulas and published coefficients a calculator implements (e.g. the Gail model, Freedman et al.) are drawn from public, peer-reviewed sources and aren't ours to restrict — what's ours is this particular implementation of them, not the science itself.
Availability
ExactCalcs is provided on an "as is" basis with no uptime guarantee at this stage. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service, including specific calculators, at any time.
Limitation of liability
Placeholder — this section needs real legal drafting before it can be relied on, particularly given the clinical-risk-calculator exposure noted above. To the fullest extent permitted by law, ExactCalcs is not liable for decisions made based on a calculator's output, or for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the service.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate an account for violating these terms, abusing the service, or for non-payment once billing applies. You can stop using the service, or ask us to delete your account, at any time — see the Privacy Policy for how.
Governing law
Placeholder — jurisdiction and governing law to be finalized.
Changes to these terms
If these change, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use ExactCalcs after a change means you accept the updated terms.
